The 2018-2019 season is a very exciting one for us as we celebrate our 50th year. What a history we have had. Throughout the year we will share some historical facts and photos. We'd love to share some of yours. What's your history with the choir? Here’s a fun fact!
Trudy VanderHoek, a member of our alto section, has been a member of our choir for the entire 50 years! Trudy’s husband, Bert VanderHoek, was also a choir member and is a well-known composer in his own right.
50th celebration gala
It’s official. On October 27th, 2018 we officially kicked-off our golden year celebration. The Chef's Table was the venue for our grand evening. And what an evening it was. Delicious food was served by wonderful international students. The silent auction tables were buzzing all evening. We even supplied some fun things for guests to bid on. Our MC, Ms Sophie Roland was absolutely delightful. And what a performance she gave with that Aria from Carmen. Really wonderful. The entertainment all evening was just spectacular. Quartet di Altezza, Stephen Holowitz Jazz Trio and Gerald Vreman all performed magnificently.
We look forward to our next event and hope you can join us again.
Messiah hits the road
That's right, this year we hope to perform the Messiah at a few local cathedrals or churches. So if you can't make our big performance, make sure you catch one of these. It'll be worth it. We are available for celebrations also.
The Church of St. Jude’s at Adelaide and Fanshawe is looking forward to hosting FCL for a Christmas concert at 2 pm on Saturday, December 1. This will be a matinee performance, so bring your friends and family as we sing the Christmas portion of the Messiah and other lighter favourites! Christina Willatt (soprano), the music director at St. Jude’s, and Raquel Dahlberg (alto) will be our Messiah soloists, along with Maestro Holler singing tenor.
Would your group or church community be interested also? Contact our General Manager at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can add them to the schedule.
